"THINK BIG!" MCC INSTRUCTOR DAVID TAKITAKI TO RUN FOR 92nd DISTRICT HOUSE SEAT
MUSKEGON - College Instructor David Takitaki has announced that he will seek the Democratic nomination for the 92nd District Michigan House of Representatives seat on August 3rd. Takitaki, who teaches political science at Muskegon Community College and both political science and communications at Adrian College, is also known as the host of the television show "A Novel Conversation" which airs on MCC's TV98 network.
A graduate of Grand Haven High School and Michigan State University, Takitaki is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in political science at Western Michigan University.
In 2006 both Takitaki and fellow Muskegon resident Mike Borgerding formed a musical group called "Beyond Awaits". Takitaki and Borgerding released their first album, "The Contemporary Requiem", in 2007. A musical journey through the grieving process, "The Contemporary Requiem" was also a charity project benefiting Harbor Hospice. Beyond Awaits plans to release their second album "Chapter Two: A Brighter Day" in the summer of 2010.
A physically dominating figure, Takitaki stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs in at over 500lbs. Noting that his impressive size is sure to be an a topic of conversation, the Takitaki campaign has adopted "Think Big!" as its slogan for the 2010 race. Continuing on that theme and tapping into his background as a vocalist, Takitaki's campaign website proclaims that he possesses a "presence and a voice that will not be ignored."
