I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who was a part of the Takitaki 2010 campaign. Whether you helped out every day or just a single day, know that your efforts were valuable and deeply appreciated. Even though the 2010 campaign is over, the mission of building a brighter tomorrow for the people of Michigan continues, and I encourage everyone to keep Thinking Big!

A message to the people of the 92nd District.
I am not your usual politician, and this will not be politics as usual.
I am young, passionate, outspoken, dedicated to positive change and absolutely in love with life. I am an educator, an author, a musician and an armchair philosopher. I have been called a small-town boy and a big city intellectual in the same conversation, and I am equally at home singing karaoke or attending the symphony. I defy categories, dodge labels and have been known to break both molds and occasional pieces of furniture.
As I'm sure you've surmised, this will not be a typical campaign. In the end, that won't matter.
I am also morbidly obese, and aside from needing a larger chair when you send me to Lansing, that won't matter either.
What does matter is that I have the vision necessary to plot the course for the future of the 92nd District. I have the knowledge necessary to craft the legislation Michigan needs to become a more just and prosperous state. I have the political and communicative skills necessary to pass that legislation through a contentious partisan body; and I have the force of character necessary to take on the difficult issues that face us today.
I believe that every true American, regardless of political affiliation, hopes for a free, safe and prosperous nation. While we may have disagreements about how to get there, I refuse to marginalize or vilify those who don't share my opinion.
I believe that Michigan's workers are its strongest asset. Revitalizing our industrial and manufacturing sectors will put our friends and neighbors back to work, but we cannot be content with just planning for the present. Forging cooperative relationships between corporations, state agencies and labor will ensure that Michigan's workers stay one step ahead of an ever-changing world.
I believe that education must accomplish two things: it must provide the skills needed for our children to make a living and it must give them the knowledge they need to become good citizens of the world. We must provide comprehensive legislative, financial and community support to our schools to accomplish this, and we all have a part to play.
I believe that all Americans have a vested interest in the future of their fellow citizens. I believe that those who profit most from our free market system have the greatest responsibility for the care and maintenance of our state. Likewise, those who turn to the state in their hour of need owe their fellow citizens an honest effort at becoming independent once again. With compassion, fairness and responsibility in our policies the American Dream is achievable for each and every one of us.
I believe that the U.S. Constitution calls for the absolute equality of all people before the law. I will never deny any citizen her rights; including the right to speak her mind, the right to worship as her conscience dictates, the right to bear arms, the right to privacy or the right to legally marry whosoever she pleases.
I know that the 92nd District needs a candidate who can combine energy, enthusiasm and eloquence with work, wisdom and willpower. We need a candidate who will not be ignored, whose voice will rise above the din of petty politics and partisanship to lead all of Michigan towards a brighter day.
I know that I am that candidate.
When you cast your ballot in the August 3rd primary, I'm asking you to give me the Democratic nomination and make me the next State Representative from the 92nd District.
"Think Big" on August 3rd. Vote for David Takitaki.
